Manuscript Assessment
Are you ready to start pitching to agents or publishers, but you’re nervous your book isn’t ready? Is your novel working or not working, but you’re not sure why? I’ll read through your manuscript and offer you constructive feedback in the form of a report, addressing the big-picture things such as characters, plot, and writing.
First Chapter Critique
Does your opening chapter have what it takes to keep your reader enthralled? Will your readers fall in love with your characters and want to keep reading? My first chapter critique offers you a professional, in-depth look at the strengths and weaknesses of your first chapter and gives you advice on what editors and publishers will be looking for!
Developmental Edit
Developmental editing looks at your manuscript as a whole and focuses on improving your story’s structure, pacing, perspective, narrative style, organisation, etc. Think of it like the big-picture things that are the heart and soul of your novel. This is an in-depth process featuring manuscript mark-ups and a report.
Line Editing
Line editing focuses on the sentence level of your manuscript. Throughout this stage, I’ll use track changes and comments to ensure it is free from grammar and punctuation errors and maintains consistency in style and formatting. The emphasis is on refining the prose while ensuring your unique voice stays consistent.
Proofread/Final Edit
Proofreading is the final stage of the editing process and is all about polishing off your masterpiece. When proofreading, I’ll look at your manuscript at word level, ensuring that no formatting mistakes, grammar issues or typos remain. This is an in-depth process that should leave you feeling confident in your finished manuscript.
